Two rear seat conversion packages for the Land Rover Discovery 5 Commercial, L462. Both give you three usable rear seats on an M1 crash-tested bench, both are fitted at our own workshop in Chelmsford by our own engineers, and both leave with a Certificate of Conformity.
Certified Scotseat fitter and supplier
Pro-Van is a certified Scotseat fitter and installer as well as a Scotseat supplier. The bench in both packages is Scotseat M1 crash tested seating and we are certified by the manufacturer to fit it, so supply and installation sit with one company rather than being split between a parts seller and a local garage.
Every conversion we carry out leaves with a certificate of conformity, issued by us on completion, for your insurance company and for MOT purposes. It is the document an insurer asks for once a vehicle has had its seat count changed.
The difference between them, in one line
The Pro Package adds the vehicle coding that makes the rear windows open and close. On the Premium Package the rear glass is uncovered and finished with genuine OEM mouldings, but the windows stay fixed. Everything else in the two packages is the same.
One thing to check before you order: window activation is not possible on pre-facelift Discovery 5 models. Send us the registration and we will confirm what your vehicle can take.
Why a fitted package costs more than a kit, and what that buys you
You can buy rear seat parts on their own for less than these figures. It is worth being clear about what the gap actually covers, because it is not margin.
- The labour is in the price. Removing trim, uncovering factory-covered glass, mounting a certified seat to the correct points and torquing belt anchorages is not a driveway job. On these packages there is nothing to add afterwards.
- The glass work is in the price. The rear side windows are uncovered and finished with genuine OEM mouldings, not trim strips.
- The interior is finished. Carpet lining, foam inserts and a ribbed floor mat, so the load area looks deliberate rather than stripped.
- You get a Certificate of Conformity. Issued by us on completion as a certified Scotseat fitter, confirming the seat and belt installation was carried out to the standard the seat is certified to. This is the document an insurer asks for when a vehicle has been converted, and it is accepted for MOT purposes. Parts bought on their own do not come with one, and nobody can issue one for work they did not do.
- One point of responsibility. If something is not right, it is ours to put right. Split the job between a parts supplier and a local fitter and that clarity disappears.
If self-fitting genuinely suits you, say so when you call and we will tell you straight whether it is sensible for your vehicle. We would rather do that than sell you a package you did not need.
Fitting and lead times
Fitting is included in both package prices and carried out at our Chelmsford workshop by our own engineers. If bringing the vehicle to Essex is impractical, on-site fitting can be arranged by enquiry with a travel charge based on your zone. Send us your postcode and we will confirm the options.
Current lead times are approximately four to eight weeks, driven by seat supply. Ask for the live figure when you enquire.

Choose this if people ride in the back regularly. We carry out the vehicle coding as well as the glass work, so the rear windows go up and down on the switches instead of sitting fixed. Not available on pre-facelift vehicles, so check with us first.

The Pro Package is £540 more than the Premium, and that difference is the rear window activation. What exactly does the Pro Package add?
The vehicle coding that brings the rear windows back to life. On the Premium Package the rear glass is uncovered and finished with genuine OEM mouldings, but the windows stay fixed. On the Pro Package we carry out the coding and activation work as well, so the windows operate on the switches as they would on a passenger Discovery.
I have seen a seat kit for less than this. What am I paying for?
A kit on its own is the parts. Our price is the parts, the labour and the paperwork, in one figure with nothing to add later. It covers fitting by our own engineers, the glass work, the carpet and floor finishing, and a Certificate of Conformity issued on completion, which is the document your insurer will ask for. If you buy parts on their own, the fitting, the certification and anything that does not line up on the day are yours to sort out.
What is the Certificate of Conformity, and why does it matter?
It is the document we issue when the conversion is finished, confirming the seat and belt installation was carried out to the standard the seat is certified to. Insurers routinely ask for evidence when a vehicle has been converted, and it is the difference between a conversion you can prove and one you cannot.
Where is the work carried out?
At our own workshop in Chelmsford, Essex, by our own engineers. Fitting is included in both package prices. If you would rather we came to you, on-site fitting can be arranged by enquiry with a travel charge based on your zone. Send us your postcode and we will confirm the options.
How long is the wait?
Current lead times for commercial 4x4 seat conversions are approximately four to eight weeks. Ask us for the live lead time when you enquire, because it moves with seat supply.
Do I lose the load space?
No. The seat folds away with one hand, so the Discovery goes back to a flat load area when you need it. That is the whole point of the fold-away design rather than a fixed bench.
