Roof Racks

Vehicle-specific van roof racks and roof bars from Van Guard. Every rack here is built around a particular van rather than sold as a universal fit, so the feet land on the factory mounting points and the load sits where it should.

• ULTI Rack+: a full 6-bar aluminium platform rack with a perimeter rail. The right choice if you carry long or awkward loads and want them properly contained.
• ULTI Bar+ Aluminium: lightweight aluminium bars with a low profile. Quieter at motorway speed and easier on fuel than steel.
• ULTI Bar Trade Steel: galvanised steel bars in 2, 3 and 4 bar sets. The cost-effective way to get a load on the roof.
• Loading accessories: rear roller systems so you can load single handed, plus ULTI ladder and loader systems for getting ladders up and down safely.

Choose the tailgate or twin rear door version to suit your back doors, and the L1 or L2 version to suit your wheelbase.

Choosing a van roof rack

Start with what you carry. Two or three bars are usually enough for ladders and lengths of pipe or timber. If you carry sheet material, guttering or anything that needs restraining on all four sides, a full platform rack with a perimeter rail is the safer bet.

Then think about weight. Steel bars cost less and take a beating, but they add more to the roof and you feel it in fuel consumption over a year. Aluminium costs more up front and pays some of it back in payload and running costs. Whichever you pick, check your van's roof load limit and remember that the rack itself counts towards it.

Getting the load up there matters as much as carrying it. A rear roller lets one person slide a ladder on and off from the back doors without lifting it clear of the roof, and a ladder loader does the lifting for you. Both are worth the money if you are on and off the roof several times a day.
