The Land Rover Defender 110 Hardtop is a favorite among tradespeople and business owners for good reason: it’s tough, spacious, and designed to handle demanding workdays. But for some, a commercial van alone isn’t enough. What if you also need to carry your team? Or the family? Or even just your dogs?
One of our recent customers approached us with exactly that need: turn a business-ready Defender into a more versatile vehicle—without compromising its utility. The solution? A flexible rear seat conversion tailored to their needs.
The Vehicle
- Model: Defender 110 Hardtop (2025)
- Usage: Business (Contractor)
-
Objective: Occasional extra passengers, without losing cargo capacity or affecting commercial classification
The Conversion We offer a single, robust seat configuration built around safety, comfort, and utility:
-
Bolt-In Bench Seat with ISOFIX
All of our Defender seat conversions use a bolt-in bench seat secured to the vehicle’s OEM mounting points. ISOFIX compatibility comes standard for added safety. -
Standard Trim
The seat comes upholstered in Ecoleather trim matched to the vehicle interior, with a sprung base for added comfort and support on long journeys. This can be changed to fabric if your car has fabric front seats. -
Optional Upgrades
You can further tailor the setup with premium features:- Embroidered company logo
- OEM-style rubber flooring for a clean, factory-like finish
- Rear window reinstatement using OEM rear window mouldings
- Electric rear window activation for enhanced usability and airflow - ideal for dogs.
All systems are professionally installed at your location or our workshop and built to suit your Defender’s specific configuration.
Why It Works for Businesses
We often get asked: is it worth adding seats to a commercial van? While every business is different, many of our customers see real benefits:
- Preserved load space - Our systems are designed to minimise intrusion into the cargo area.
- Multi-purpose vehicle - Carry tools during the week, passengers on weekends.
- Professional look - No DIY compromise; factory-level finish builds trust with clients and staff alike.
-
Potential Tax Advantages - Some businesses may be able to claim capital allowances or retain van status for VAT/BiK purposes (speak to your accountant).
Customer Feedback
"With double cab pickups being phased out, we needed a way to carry both tools and people in one vehicle. This conversion meant we didn’t have to compromise - we kept our van’s utility and gained extra seats without losing the commercial benefits."
